If not now, when?

Sun Jun 28, 2009, 1:20 PM
I'd heard that Ladies names should only be in the newspaper, when they're born, married and die. But the paper called and said that they were doing a story of interesting people in my town, and my name had been suggested by my friend Judy. It was pretty cool and not too wierd, below is the link.

Am I correct that you are frequently using teeth from a excavator bucket for the beaks? I love them! I just wish I new where to find some! I am limited here in DC on sources for metal scraps.

They're the cutters from a sickle bar mower, used for cutting hay. I used to scrounge them from barn sales, but recently found a supply at a rural farm equiptment place. I also have a plumbing and heating company that lets me scrounge the scrap trailer before it heads off to the recycler. Friends also let me know when they see stuff. DC must have a scrap yard. Rochester NY has a couple. Now that metal is worth more, I find I'm racing the junk dealers for stuff on the side of the road. You can ask for stuff of thier trucks, It'll cost you a couple bucks and some pride. Pride's over rated..

Thanks! I am a proud dumpster diver myself and am often laughed at for it but when they see what it becomes they understand. I think If I head up into Maryland there are a lot more farms and junkyards. Thank you for the advise!

THNX for the compliments. I really like the 3d work you make.
If you ever have the oppurtunity to go to Ulverston for a LanternFestival :) I had so much fun doing things there last year, but they changed the concept, but i still love the style of making art out of nothing, and esspecvially when the size is BIG.

Wow, thanks for all the favorites you've found in my gallery! there's always something so extra-special about finding other women who love metal too!
